Congratulations to James Cilliers (saxophone) who was placed second overall in this year’s SAMRO Hubert van der Spuy National Music Competition!
The competition consisted of 40 participants performing on a range of instruments. To reach the final round of eight, James and his fellow finalists, which included another of our young saxophone learners, Kian Goliath, had to make it through three gruelling rounds of competition.
We are extremely proud of all our learners who took part in this year’s competition. Well done to Gaby Stevens and Saskia Burgers (clarinet) for progressing to the semi-final and to James and Kian for their wonderful performances during the final round. Gaby and Saskia are learners of Ms Charlene Saayman, Kian is a learner of Dr Arisa Voges and James learns with Mr Liam Burden.
