The Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre is a Western Cape Education Department Music Centre that nurtures South Africa’s musicians of tomorrow through specialised instrumental, vocal and theoretical tuition offered to school-going learners and adult students from our diverse communities.

The Hugo Lambrechts Concerto Festival held on 14 October featured young soloists accompanied by our Symphony Orchestra conducted by Liam Burden. The Popper Requiem performed by 3 cellists, was a tribute to Leonore Ehlers, our former principal.

Our Beginners of 2022 made their debut on our Auditorium's stage with a live audience for the first time in two years! The experience forms an integral part in their development as it gives the learners a taste of the performance atmosphere. We are very proud of what our young performers are able to achieve.
The teaching staff of the Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre kickstarts the series of chamber concerts for 2022 with a diverse programme showcasing different instruments, styles, and ensemble combinations.
The 24th Concerto Festival features ten young instrumental soloists accompanied by the Hugo Lambrechts Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Liam Burden. As the Concerto Festival also serves as a platform for young conductors to hone their symphony orchestra conducting skills, Jacobus de Jager will open the concert with an overture by Nicolai

Hugo Lambrechts Music Development Programme

The Hugo Lambrechts Music Development Programme is an initiative established in 2002 to enrich the lives of  youth from the surrounding areas through tuition in practical instrumental music and music theory. Selected learners from five partnership primary schools attend weekly lessons at the Music Centre where they receive individual and group music lessons.
