The Hugo Lambrechts Music Centre will celebrate its twenty-second annual Concerto Festival on Saturday 24 August at 19:00. Sixteen young soloists have auditioned successfully and will have the opportunity to perform with the Hugo Lambrechts Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Liam Burden.
As always, the winner of the 2018 SAMRO Hubert van der Spuy National Music Competition, the young pianist Weien Amy Luo from Kwa-Zulu Natal, will perform. In addition, the winner of the 2018 Pieter Kooij Music Competition and soloist at the Len van Zyl Conductors Competition, pianist Gerhard Joubert, has also been selected as a soloist, together with several other young musicians from Cape Town, Somerset West and Paarl.
The programme for the Concerto Festival includes compositions by Bach, Haydn, Peskanov, Lehar, Kabalevsky and the South African composer Noel Stockton from Bloemfontein.
